The answer is; true

The reason for use of copper is due to the metal’s high conductivity due to its high valence in its atom’s outermost shell of +3.   It is perfect for transmitting voice signals and telegrams in telegraphs. Another property of copper that appeals to its use in communication wiring is its corrosion resistance and ductility.
