Weight is equal to the mass of the object multiplied by the force of gravity. The force of gravity on earth is greater then the force of the moon's gravity causing a smaller weight. The equation used to find an objects weight is W=mg. W is the weight, m is the mass, and g is the gravity's acceleration.
